Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital

This Hadassah hospital tower is an eco-tech building extending over 14 floors and five underground floors.
It has twenty glass elevators, three escalators, four bridges and two tunnels linking the medical center and car parks. The Towers total area is 86,000 square meters, with a typical floor having an area of4,200 square meters, comprising 350 beds in 248 inpatient rooms, four healing gardens and 24 of the most advanced operating rooms in the world.

 

Green features:
The building was constructed on the site of the old nursing school. All the demolished building materials were recycled and all the trees in the area were replanted. The air conditioning system is very efficient in its use of electricity and the windows incorporate shading for energy saving during heating and cooling. The building design maximizes the use of natural light and, in addition, the project also includes a solar-powered system to produce steam.

 

The Israel Institute for Occupational Safety and Hygiene awarded the project first place in its Excellence in Safety competition in2011 in the Construction and Building Engineering category.
