Photovoltaic Solar Energy

The 85-dunam project, situated on the grounds of the Timna copper mines, will have an output of 6 megawatts, to be generated by some 24,000 solar panels anchored in the ground. The station will supply the national power grid with more than 10 million kilowatt-hours a year of clean energy for a period of 20 years.

This project is a joint venture of Shikun & Binui Solaria and the Soltec Renewable Energies of Spain, which has wide experience building solar energy parks in Europe.

The power station is expected to go online during 2012.

Shikun & Binui Renewable Energy is securing rights of land areas and industrial/commercial roof surfaces and is promoting a significant number of ventures for the erection of photovoltaic solar parks in Israel, each producing up to 12MW.

The company plans to participate in the BOT tender for the design, finance, construction and operation of a 30 MW photovoltaic solar park at Ashalim which was published in 2009.
